Should We Use Air Purifiers?
Air pollution has been always a hot topic in the U.S. Thanks to the research from MIT published in 2013, it is commonly known that air pollution causes about 200,000 early deaths a year in the U.S.
A new study conducted by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health of 60 million Americans (about 97% of people age 65 and older in the U.S.) proved that long-term exposure to airborne fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and ozone increases the risk of premature death (even if that exposure is at levels below the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency).
The particles studied are dangerous because their tiny size allows them to get deep into the lungs to do serious harm, as reported by Reuters.
In general, air pollution has been associated with negative effects on everyone that’s why the world’s markets have recently welcomed warmly air purifiers for personal use. But the question is – should we use them?
